Mandena Conservation Zone *

The forests of Mandena are in southeastern Madagascar, about a 20-minute drive northeast of Tolagnaro (= Fort-Dauphin). Visits can be arranged with the help of local tourist agencies or through contact with the mining company QMM in Tolagnaro. During the daylight hours, you can find the red-collared brown lemur (Eulemur collaris) and the southern bamboo lemur (Hapalemur meridionalis). At night, you can see the gray mouse lemur (Microcebus murinus) as well as two species of Cheirogaleus, the greater dwarf lemur (Cheirogaleus major) and the fat-tailed dwarf lemur (Cheirogaleus medius).
